Two people were killed statewide in weekend wrecks, preliminary reports show.

According to the state Department of Public Safety, both deaths reported between Friday and Sunday occurred on U.S., state and secondary roads. Both were wearing seat belts when the wrecks occurred, officials said.

The deaths brought this year's total to 230, compared with the 239 highway deaths reported this time last year, officials said.

Of those killed in 2014, 13 were reported in Charleston County. Berkeley and Dorchester counties saw fewer deaths with six and five respectively, Public Safety numbers show.

According to Public Safety officials, 25 pedestrians, 19 motorcyclists and four bicyclists have died statewide so far this year.
