Another fast-casual sandwich deli is on the way to Mount Pleasant.

Auburn, Ala.-based franchise Momma Goldberg's Deli soon will open near Wingo Way at 230 Mathis Ferry Road. The space was most recently occupied by Dry Clean USA.

The restaurant, which is expected to open sometime this month, serves typical deli fare such as salads and specialty sub sandwiches. The Mount Pleasant location is the chain restaurant's first in the Palmetto State. Other locations are concentrated in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.

Freshening up

Freshii, a national Chicago-based chain of "health-casual" restaurants, is opening a location at 315 King St. after its short-lived predecessor, 32 Degrees Yogurt Bar, recently vacated the space between Liberty and George steets.

The new restaurant aims to offer nutritious choices with an affordable menu of salads, rice bowls, yogurt and smoothies. It won't be the first to do so in the lower King district, which is home to a handful of health-conscious delis and salad bars such as Verde and Caviar & Bananas.

Bowing out

In Good Taste, a local culinary boutique at 1901 Ashley River Road, is closing its doors April 19 after 32 years in the Charleston area. A farewell event will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on its final day of business.

The boutique began as the Spice Rack, a spice and herb booth in the Charleston City Market. Owner Jacki Boyd changed the name when she moved to the West Ashley storefront in 1982, and it evolved into a boutique for fine foods, wine and high-end cookware.

Also, Atlanta Bread Co. at 8966 University Blvd. in North Charleston is on its way out. The restaurant's last day serving soups and sandwiches is Saturday. A liquidation auction of its assets will be held at 10 a.m. April 9 at the restaurant. The auction, handled by Olde Depot Auction Co., will include everything from kitchen equipment to dining room furniture.

Nearly New Children's Clothes, a resale shop of children's apparel and accessories, opened last week at 1664 Old Towne Road, next to TBonz Gill & Grill in West Ashley. Owner Troy Crawford pays cash up front for gently used children's and infant clothes, and equipment such as strollers and car seats.
