Dorchester County deputies are investigating a possible meth lab found in a Ladson home on Thursday.

Investigators found materials used to make methamphetamine inside a home on Hickory Lane, Sheriff’s Maj. John Garrison said.

Firefighters with Old Fort Fire Department on Thursday flagged down deputies about 2 p.m. in reference to reports of a strong chemical smell coming from a townhome on that street, an incident report states.

A woman told deputies she smelled chemicals seeping through the vents of her townhome. The odor made her lungs and nose burn, she reported.

Deputies approached a neighboring home, which they determined to be the source of the smell, the report states.

A woman at that home told deputies she was cleaning and the chemical smell was from the bleach she used.

While searching the home, deputies found a man bleeding on a bathroom floor, the report states. The man had a pocketknife in his hand and severe cuts to his right wrist, deputies said.

The man was carried out of the home to be treated by paramedics, the report states.

Today, deputies will file charges against him and the woman found inside the home, Garrison said.
