Progressive Dinner

Circa 1886 restaurant and Charming Inns again will host the Charleston Holiday Progressive Dinner.

The evening begins with hors d’oeuvres at Historic Kings Courtyard at 198 King St., then journeys to a three-course dinner at Circa 1886 at 149 Wentworth St., and concludes with coffee and dessert at the historic John Rutledge House Inn at 116 Broad St.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

Horse-drawn carriages will provide transportation for all guests to each location.

Dates for the dinner begin this week — Friday, Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday — and continue Dec. 13-15, 17-18, and 20-22. The cost is $95, excluding beverages.

Payment must be received seven days prior to the dinner, and there is a 72-hour cancellation policy.

Wine dinner

Osteria la Bottiglia hosts a wine dinner Thursday. Four courses, each served with a complementary wine, begins at 6 p.m.

Calling a cab

Chef Robert Carter and managing partner Brad Creger have announced their plans for the Rutledge Cab Co., a restaurant slated to open in mid-December.

Rutledge Cab Co. is Carter’s Wagener Terrace neighborhood restaurant and bar.

It is a retro concept that will offer throwback cocktails, craft beer and classic service.

Originally a gas station, the building at 1300 Rutledge Ave. formerly served as D’s Grocery.

Rutledge Cab Company will be open daily from 10:30 a.m.-1 a.m.

In January, the restaurant also will be open starting at 8 a.m. for breakfast and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Wine-selection tool

Cypress has debuted an iPad application for its wine list, which has received the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator every year since 2001.

The application features more than 400 wines, including half- and large-bottle formats, as well as by-the-glass.

Corresponding information from vineyards and wineries is listed, accompanied by tasting notes from the respective winemakers and renowned wine writers.

While browsing the list, a “favorite” button enables diners to move bottles into a basket, allowing side-by-side comparisons before a final selection is made.

Feast of fish

The Feast of Seven Fishes is a longtime Italian tradition of eating seafood on Christmas Eve.

In celebration of the holidays, the Old Village Post House will present this Italian tradition at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The dinner is $75, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and must be made by calling 388-8935.

Stars Rooftop & Grill Room, 495 King St., is now open for Sunday brunch.

The restaurant’s cuisine is centered on live-fire cooking, and the brunch menu will exemplify that cooking method.
