About David

David Quick primarily writes about health, fitness and active lifestyle events and currently covers general assignments on Saturdays, often tapping into his skills as a photographer. A native of North Carolina, he lived in Detroit, Mich., from 1974 until 1982. He graduated from Duke University with a degree in English in 1986. After a year stint at the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, he joined the staff of The News and Courier in June 1988. In 2000, Quick's career dovetailed with his personal interests in fitness and the outdoors and helped launch a features edition focused on the array of activities available in the Lowcountry. He is an avid runner - having participated more than 30 marathons in the last 16 years - and is a seasonal triathlete.
